Matlock Buildings
The Matlock area has a wealth of important buildings, many of which date back to the time when hydros were in their heyday.
A very good overview can be found on the following website (Matlock, Derbyshire Facts for Kids. Kiddle Encyclopedia). This describes them by location.
It also describes other features such as Hall Leys Park, the former Bank Road Tram and the Railways.
An authoritative and comprehensive account of the buildings can be found in the Conservation Area Appraisals prepared for Derbyshire Dales District Council.
The Matlock and Matlock Bath area has no less than 7 of the 33 Conservation Areas in the Derbyshire Dales, (meaning that it is ‘an area of special architectural or historic interest, the character or appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance’) namely

These reports illustrate and describe in detail all of the significant buildings in each area.
